The Sustainability Soccer Hackathon Challenge 2026 is an exclusive pilot online experience inviting passionate young innovators (ages 15–25) to solve pressing environmental challenges in soccer.

 

Under 24h participants will engage in team-based problem solving, receive expert mentorship, and access digital tools to build high-impact projects that shape the future of the beautiful game.

This pilot sets the stage for future international editions leading up to the 2026 & 2030 FIFA World Cup, UEFA European Championship, and other global sporting events...

 

The Hackathon supports on key themes including:

• Sustainable Soccer Gear: Innovating eco-friendly materials and circular designs

• Plastic Waste Reduction: Creating solutions to minimise single-use plastics in soccer events and fan culture

• Eco-Friendly Fan Engagement: Design Campaigns to inspire sustainable behaviours among soccer fan

• Art & Culture: Leveraging Creative Arts to inspire sustainability, mental wellbeing, and community spirit

• Mental Health & Wellbeing: Promoting mental health awareness and support through soccer-related activities that connect sport, community, and sustainability

• Bonus: Community Mapping with Open Street Map: to use free, open-source mapping tools to visualize environmental and health challenges—like waste hotspots, shade coverage, transit access, and water availability in local soccer communities.
